Senior Recreational: Age Group: 11+ years
In this class, we introduce aerobics, circuit training, pair and group work. The classes enable further body awareness and understanding of a range of skills, and helps further improve fitness, strength and agility.
Age Group: (School Years 6/7+)
Older children are introduced to a wider range of activities. More emphasis is placed upon fitness, strength, flexibility and conditioning, especially as the child grows, aiding and enabling further body awareness and understanding of a range of skills they are capable of no matter what ability.
AWARDS: BGA Core Proficiency Award Scheme – Advanced Proficiency Awards
These are the clubs own awards and have been designed to work alongside the British Gymnastics Award Scheme. They act as a preparation/stepping stone for your child’s next British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Award.
How are the Awards tested?
The children need to obtain a set number skills for each level, and as per the British Gymnastics badge testing criteria. The skills are from 5 different areas:
- Cardio / Pulse raising
- Skills (e.g. Forward roll)
- Strength / Flexibility / Conditioning
- Skill on a large piece of Apparatus (e.g. bar/vault/ bench beam)
- Set Sequence of skills for each level
The order of the awards is as follows and skills increase in difficulty in each of the 5 areas.
There is no charge for these awards. Once your child has gained the required number of skills for the level they are working, the award will be presented towards the end of the term.
