Jumping Jacks: Age Group: 6 to 7.5 years
Jumping Jacks is all about performance and expression! Children at this stage will begin to create their own routines, and also build on their confidence and overall body management.
This group is for school years 1 and 2.
We work on additional strength, flexibility and body awareness activities. This not only builds on the physical development but also increases the child’s confidence and body management. Additional gymnastic skills and their variations are introduced and developed. Sequence building, large apparatus skills on bars, floor, vault, beam and bench are all covered throughout each term.
AWARDS: BGA Core Proficiency Award Scheme – Stripes (Club’s own awards)
These are the clubs own awards and have been designed to work alongside the British Gymnastics Award Scheme. They act as a preparation/stepping stone for your child’s next British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Award.
How are the Awards tested?
The children need to obtain a set number skills for each level, and as per the British Gymnastics badge testing criteria. The skills are from 5 different areas:
- Cardio / Pulse raising
- Skills (eg. Forward roll)
- Strength / Flexibility / Conditioning
- Skill on a large piece of Apparatus ( e.g. bar/vault/ bench beam)
- Set Sequence of skills for each level
The order of the awards is as follows and skills increase in difficulty in each of the 5 areas.
There is no charge for these awards. Once your child has gained the required number of skills for the level they are working, the award will be presented towards the end of the term.
